CIDCO

The Centre Interdisciplinaire de Développement en Cartographie des Océans (CIDCO) is an organization specializing in ocean mapping and seabed cartography. The CIDCO is a research center located in Rimouski, Quebec, Canada. Its main objective is to develop advanced technologies and methodologies for acquiring bathymetric data and mapping the seabed.

The CIDCO collaborates with scientists, engineers, and industry professionals to conduct research and projects related to ocean mapping. It also works closely with other research institutions, government agencies, and private companies to promote the effective use of marine mapping data.

The activities of CIDCO include the design and development of hydrographic mapping systems, the acquisition of bathymetric data using techniques such as multibeam sonar and satellite remote sensing, the processing and analysis of collected data, as well as the creation of detailed seabed mapping products.

Ocean mapping is essential for various applications, including maritime navigation, marine resource management, coastal development planning, modeling of ocean currents, and the study of marine ecosystems. CIDCO plays a crucial role in advancing ocean mapping by developing cutting-edge techniques and providing accurate and reliable data to support informed decision-making in the exploitation and preservation of marine resources.

CIDCO has been an active member of the IHO Crowdsourced Bathymetry Working Group since 2019 and is honored to support the work of the IHO CSB Initiative by hosting this website.
